It all comes down to preparation. If you know your stuff, its going to come out better, with less time. Why would you spend your money to work something out dropping $50/hr to do so in a nice studio? And also, if you arent comfortable nailing a part you want on your album, I think you should put your ego aside and hire a pro to do it. U need to make that song sound the best it can. Well put.
