New single from Caspian (Flight Academy Music) and Crooked I (Slaughterhouse).
Produced by Marvelous of Southwest Ent.
Engineered & Mixed by Jamie Kuse @ Creativ Recording Studios.
As always, a pleasure working with a seasoned veteran like Caspian, and an honor to work with a west coast legend like Crooked I. Check it!
It is very exciting to wake up to find out a project you engineered, mixed and even produced on was deemed an “outstanding rap/hiphop recording” by an accredited organization. The record was very well received with fans, media and the critics, but there is something very tangible about an actual trophy.
Working with Sweatshop Union is always incredible. I challenge anyone who writes off all hip-hop as unmusical & close minded to have even a quick skim through their catalog. The album was recorded and mixed at Creativ Recording studios, and features production from within the group, as well as guest producers like my self, Dave Knill and Stuey Kubrick.
Even after the many hours of studio work put in to crafting the record, I still enjoy listening through the record as if it was a first listen – it’s that flavorful. There are talks of a new Sweatshop Union record getting started soon.
This is the lead single off Terell’s new record “Champagne Dreams”. Please request it on Much Music by emailing muchmail@muchmusic.com – we’d love to see it chart in the count down! Directed by Blake McRitchie. Produced & Engineered at Creativ Recording Studios.
Vancouver artist/skateboarder Terell Safadi just released his first studio album on July 2nd, 2011. I had the pleasure of engineering the record here at Creativ, and even sneaking a beat on the project. Terell’s music is upbeat and hard hitting, lacking a saturation of the cliches generally associated with rap & pop music.
There have already been two music videos released accompanying the album, with “Ring Around The Rozay” featuring Tre Nyce being next in line (which, coincidentally, is the lone song I produced on the record). The album also features production from Crooks n Kruscher, B-Beck and the notable soundclick heavyweights Flight Academy.

Really vibey new track from a couple of my favorite Canadian rappers, District 36. It was a really fun track to record – they both killed it all the way through, one take. No doubles, punch-ins or any of that… just pure honest takes, which is really impressive. They produced the track, and gave me the honor of lacing some keys on the great beat they brought in. Check for these guys.
I am a happy engineer right now. I just got my new Capacity Workstation desk racked up with all my favorite gear, and spent the morning patching in all the wiring. I am really happy to finally have all my gear at desktop level, both for practical and aesthetic reasons. Snapped a quick picture to share with the internets:
Special thanks to the guys at Capacity Workstations for building the desk on time and to my exact specs, and to my good friend Scott for helping me transport and assemble this beast. You guys rock.
Sweatshop Union released “The Bill Murray EP”, their 4th studio album, on March 1st 2011. I have been working with them since ’07, and had the pleasure of engineering and mixing this record. The overwhelming general consensus from critics is that this record is their best offering to date, and I would have to agree. The low track count is a clear sign that every song that made the record was carefully selected. The production, as usual, came a lot from within the group, as well as from my self, Rob The Viking and Dave Knill.

Canyon Boulevard, a side project of mine, has it’s first release in over a year coming to iTunes on Feb 15th 2011. It features a stunning remix from prog. house heavyweights Michael Cassette. I’m honored to have them a part of this release, as they are honestly one of my favorite electronic music production teams. If you’ve got a sec, check out the track previews below:
